Fortnite is a survival battle royale-based video game, where players collaborate to survive in an open-world environment, by battling other characters who are controlled either by the game itself, or by other players.

But Fortnite’s most popular mode is its standalone free-to-play multiplayer platform, Fortnite Battle Royale, in which up to 100 players enter an online game, competing individually or as part of squads of up to four, to be the last player standing within a ever-decreasing battle arena.
Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode is a multiplayer game where, either individually or in squads, players from around the globe pit themselves against each other in last-man-standing-type games involving up to 100 players. The game begins when the battle bus takes off from the spawn island, and you have to skydive to a location on the map to try to find loot. Collecting loot and harvesting materials are the two most essential steps to winning a game of fortnite. After a few minutes, a storm appears and periodically shrinks throughout the game, until a player wins.
Fortnite has had an extremely competitive Esports game ever since release. Players from around the globe have competeted in countless tournaments, trying to reach the top of the leaderboards. Fortnite hosted a 6 week series of qualifiers for their world cup, in which millions of people around the globe competed against each other trying to secure a trip to New York. The fortnite world cup had a total prize pool of 30 million dollars, with the winner Bugha, winning 3 million of that. This was the 3rd largest prize pool in all of gaming history
